Black History Month
During October, we marked Black History Month by acknowledging the enormous achievements and contributions by notable Black people both today and in the past. Each class researched a significant Black person: Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Simone Biles, Barack Obama, Beyonce, Walter Tull, Sir Lenny Henry, Katherine Johnson, Malorie Blackman and Marcus Rashford. The children chose to present their findings in their own way: factfiles, letters, poetry, artwork, drama and music. We finished the term with two fantastic sharing assemblies in which the children presented their own work, brought together into our amazing class books inspired by the 'Little People, Big Dreams' series. Our KS1 children also performed two African songs that they have learned during their music lessons, while Leopards class shared Beyonce's beautiful version of Ave Maria. We're so impressed by the quality of the children's work: ask your children to tell you about what they learned!
