Phase 6
What is Phase 6?
In Phase 6 children will be able to apply all previous phonics phases to read with increasing fluency. Fluency is when children have the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and appropriate expression. They will have learned most of the common letter-sound correspondences and can read familiar words automatically without needing to sound out and blend. Children will also work on spelling, including prefixes and suffixes, doubling and dropping letters and further spelling patterns.
