Reception
After learning the story, The Gingerbread Man, we changed it to become the story of, The Cookie Man.. We made our own cookie men by decorating biscuits.
We carried out an experiment to find out what would happen to the Gingerbread Man if he got wet. We noticed that he got very soggy and broke apart. We then carried out another experiment to find out which material would be best to keep the Gingerbread Man dry. We tested different materials and found that both tin foil and a plastic bag were waterproof and would keep the Gingerbread Man dry.
We entered our classrooms to find a big mess in our home corners. Looking at the clues left behind, we decided it must have been the Gingerbread Man. This term we have been learning the story and then changing it to create our own We have had lots of fun doing a range of activities linked to the story.
We visited Queen's Park to look for signs of autumn.
As a school, we celebrated European Day of Languages by dressing up in the traditional clothes of our home countries. We explored different activities such as making flags and dancing to traditional music from around the world.
We looked at artwork by Mondrian and Kandinsky and then made our own paintings inspired by them. We think they look great!
In maths we have been comparing height, length and quantities using the words, 'tall', 'short', 'long' and more. We have enjoyed exploring different activities and practising using these words to compare.
Badgers and Otters have enjoyed exploring their new classrooms and outdoor area. They have been busy learning the school routines and making new friends.
