Year 6

Year Group Messages:

Friday 3rd April 2020

Good afternoon, Year 6! We hope you’re having a great Friday! smiley

All the answers for maths, reading and SPaG have now been uploaded. We have also uploaded the answers to this week’s English and maths homework. They can be found in the English and maths folders under every teacher’s name.

Over the Easter holidays, we’d like you to try and keep your English and maths skills going! Within your packs, you will find a maths revision booklet, a reading test paper and a SPaG test paper. Please complete these at some point over the next two weeks – when you complete them is up to you! We will publish the answers on the Monday of the first week back so you can mark them and see how well you got on. If you have any outstanding work from the last two weeks, please also find time to finish this off during the holidays so that you’re up to date!

Well done for the last two weeks; it’s been a very unusual time for us all so we hope you have all been alright and found lots of things to smile about! We hope you have a lovely Easter and enjoy a well-deserved break. Please take care of yourselves and stay safe over the holidays.

See you all soon!

Miss Clark, Mrs Peart and Mr Westman

Friday 3rd April 2020

Happy Friday, everyone! We’ve come to the end of our second week of home learning and the last day of the spring term!

Please check your teacher’s messages for your English and maths tasks today – keep up the brilliant effort you have shown so far! The answers for all SPaG, reading and maths questions will be uploaded under each subject folder by 2pm today. Please go through these with an adult at home to make sure that you can identify any questions that may need to be corrected or extended further. We will be on hand via our email address if you do have any queries about this.

As you may have seen, there are lots of rainbows on display at the moment but do you know what a rainbow really is? If you’d like to find out more (and have a go at creating a real rainbow) have a look at the task in the science folder which will teach you more about rainbows and how they are formed.

Have a lovely day! smiley

Good morning Year 6! We hope you’ve had a productive week so far yes

Please check your teacher’s message for today’s tasks – keep up the hard work! Don’t forget to complete your science and topic tasks too. Remember, when trying to crack the codes for your topic work, you need to read the codebreaker slides carefully as the final few slides give you the instructions you need to crack the codes. Make sure you read them carefully and use resources to help you – make jottings and try something! It doesn’t matter if you don’t get it straight away; it’s a problem to solve so keep going and persevere! You can do it!

We hope you enjoyed having a go at some drawing yesterday with Rob Biddulph. We’d love to see some of your drawings so please email us (or Milo) and we can post them on the website!

Have a great day today! smiley

Check your teacher’s message for your tasks for today; we hope you get on well with them.

If you’d like to have a go at something creative, why not try learning how to draw some fun characters? Rob Biddulph, an author and illustrator, has created some draw-along videos for you to join in with at home! See if you can follow his step by step guide for drawing a sausage dog! Miss Clark is going to have a go too! Milo would love to see your pictures so please share your drawings with him by emailing milo@holyroodprimary.co.uk

Friday 27th March 2020

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s nearly the end of our first week of home learning; we hope it’s gone well and you’ve been able to enjoy your different activities. Check your teacher’s message for today’s tasks and keep up the great effort!

The answers for all SPaG, reading and maths questions will be uploaded under each subject folder by 2pm today. For example, any reading comprehension answers will be saved under the ‘Reading’ folder, and SPaG answers will be saved under the ‘English’ folder. Please go through these with an adult at home to make sure that you can identify any questions that may need to be corrected or extended further. We will be on hand via our email address if you do have any queries about this.

Whilst learning from home, remember to keep up your daily reading; it will help you learn so much and is a great way to stretch your imagination. If you’d like to listen to a story, you can tune in to the next chapter of our class reader under the ‘Reading’ folder. If you’d like to choose a different story to hear, Amazon have cancelled subscriptions to audio books whilst schools are closed, so you can now access a whole host of exciting stories for free! All you have to do is click on a story and listen! Follow this link to get started: https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

Remember:

Please also make time to relax and enjoy yourself this weekend. There is a list of fun activities under the ‘Useful Websites’ folder that you could do whilst staying safe at home yes

We hope you have a great day today and enjoy a well-deserved rest over the weekend smiley

Thursday 26th March 2020

Happy Thursday, everyone! It’s been lovely weather this week; we hope you have been able to enjoy some sunshine!

Your work for today has been uploaded – please check your teacher’s message to find your tasks. Remember that if you are in Mrs Finnell’s maths group, you need to check the maths tasks under Miss Clark’s teacher message. Also, don’t forget to complete your topic task by the end of this week – you can find it in the topic folder.

In the topic folder, you will also find an online safety activity to complete. As you know, it’s very important to stay safe whilst online and so we’d like you to complete Activity 1: Watch Play Like Share, Episode 1. Watch the episode and then discuss the questions with an adult at home. The link to the video can be found when you open the file in the topic folder. If you have any questions or concerns, please remember to email us at year6@holyroodprimary.co.uk and we’ll do our best to help!
