 After looking at healthy foods last week we would like to design a sandwich this week. Firstly we thought that it would be a good idea to follow a set of simple instructions to make a jam/ chocolate spread/ marmalade/ (Whatever you have in the cupboard) sandwich. Have a look at the PowerPoint of ‘World War Two’ in the English area. Read it with an adult. Discuss the PowerPoint. What is the PowerPoint about? When was the Second World War? Why did it happen? Which countries were involved? What happened at the end of the war?

Maths: This week we are recapping place value. Remember to look at the tens column first and then the ones. The sheet is in the maths area.

English: Continue to complete the Holy Week storyboard.

Maths: Please find today’s work in the maths area. Today’s activity is a word problem sheet involving subtraction and addition.

Topic: Get crafty and create something based around Easter. Look in the topic area for some ideas.

English: Holy Week. Look at the storyboard in the English area. Over the next two days complete the storyboard of the Holy Week. Write a sentence for each picture and colour in the picture.

Maths: Try and complete an activity in Numbots today. https://play.numbots.com   (The children have been given a password in their Home Learning book.) We have put a guide to support in the Maths area.

There are two types of games :

1. Story Mode – the emphasis is on learning the ideas and concepts behind addition and subtraction so it features more diagrams, shapes and question styles.

2. Challenge Mode – the emphasis is more on speed of recall of key facts, like number bonds to 10, doubling small numbers or adding & taking away in your head.

Phonics:  We would like you to focus on the sound ‘aw’ today. Look at the Phonics area.

Match the sentences to the pictures. Look in the Phonics area.

Topic: Can you be a materials detective? Look around your house for different materials. Can you name them? Can you describe their properties? For example, I can see a window. It is made out of glass and it is waterproof and transparent.  Look in the Topic area for a video to help you. There is also a sheet in the area for you to complete.

Reading: Read and complete ‘What is pink?’ by Christina Rosetti. See your Home Learning pack. It is also in the Reading area.

Good Morning Year 1. We hope you had a nice day yesterday. Have a go at the Joe Wicks YouTube video at 9am for a great start to the day.

 

English: Look at the picture in your Home learning pack (also in the English area) Can you think of some interesting adjectives to describe the characters and the setting? Tomorrow we will use the adjectives you have thought of to write a description of the picture.

Maths:  Practise counting forwards and back from 1 -100 using your 100 square. Today we are going to be completing adding and subtracting word problems. Please find the sheet in the Maths area.

Phonics:  We would like you to focus on the sound ‘ea’ today. Look at the Phonics area.

English: Can you add capital letters and full stops correctly? Try to make up some more sentences using the correct punctuation. Look at the sentences in the English area.

Maths:  Today we are going to be practising counting and writing numbers as words. Please find the spring themed i-spy activity in the Maths area. 

Phonics:  We would like you to focus on the sound ‘oy’ today. Look at the Phonics area.

Topic: Research and record facts about Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Look in the Topic area.

Reading: Read a book with an adult. Can you read all of the tricky words? Write down the ones you find more difficult and practise these throughout the day.

Good Morning Year 1. Please see the suggested timetable for each day in your Home Learning Pack. 

 

English: We would like you to complete activity 1 in your Home Learning pack to write a description of your home. Remember when we are describing we need to use lots of exciting adjectives!

Maths:  Please begin by completing activity 2 from the Home learning pack. We have attached a sheet on adding for the children to complete. This can be found in the Maths area.

Phonics:  We would like you to focus on the sound ‘ir’ today. Look in the Phonics area.

RE: Read the story of Zacchaeus the Tax Collector. Map out the story on a storyboard.  Look in the topic area.

Reading: Read and complete ‘The farmer and his sons’. Look in the Reading area. It is also included in the Home Learning pack.

Good Morning Year 1. We hope that you have had a restful weekend.

 

Please see the suggested timetable for each day in your Home Learning Pack. Remember to present your best work with the date underlined and try to use your best handwriting. Make sure that you have plenty of 'brain breaks' and lots of fresh air and exercise! Don't forget to watch  Joe Wicks on YouTube  at 9am. He will be on every day at the same time to keep you moving!

 

English : We would like you to discuss your weekend with an adult. Write about your weekend remembering to use your Kung Fu punctuation, adjectives and using the conjunction 'and'. Read your writing to an adult to check that it makes sense and it is your best work. Don't forget to use your best handwriting.

 

Maths : We would like you to practise counting to and back from 100 using the hundred square from your home pack. Complete  Task 1 from your Maths activities sheet in the Home learning pack.

 

Phonics:  We would like you to complete one Practice phonics screener from the Home Learning pack. Add sound buttons. Sound out and clearly blend the words to an adult. We have uploaded the screener in the Phonics area.

 

Topic: Choose your favourite toy. Look at it carefully and create a sketch of it. Try to use your pencil to create different sized lines and shapes.

 

Reading: Read your school reading book with an adult. Talk about the story. Have a lovely day.
