Editing-

Remember our ‘Good, Better, Best’ steps!

Now it is time to go through and check off the following.

1. Is your handwriting neat and joined? If it isn’t, you will need to go back and fix up any parts where you have rushed your handwriting.
2. Do all of your sentences make sense?

3. Have you correctly punctuated your sentences with capital letters, capital letters for all proper nouns, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks?
4. Have you make sure your comma is in the correct place when writing SC,MC and MC,SC,MC structured complex sentences?
5. Have you included relative clauses?
6. Have you used at least three different fronted adverbials and put a comma after them?
7. Have you checked your spellings? You can use google if you do not have a dictionary.
8. Have you included everything on your target sheet?

9. Is there any words you need to up-level? You can use an online thesaurus for this or maybe an adult or older sibling can help.

You have worked hard on this piece all week. It is now time to celebrate your hard work! Read your work aloud to someone else in your house. Be sure to use expression to keep your audience engaged and on the edge of their seats!

- Spelling booklet- Year 5 Term 2B (1 page)

Look at Writing Task 1 – choose an inspirational person and research using the subheadings to guide you.

Today we are writing our concluding sentences and editing. Your conclusion only needs to be a couple of sentences long to summarise what we now know about your inspirational person.

Editing-

Remember our ‘Good, Better, Best’ steps!

Now it is time to go through and check off the following.

1. Is your handwriting neat and joined? If it isn’t, you will need to go back and fix up any parts where you have rushed your handwriting.
2. Do all of your sentences make sense?

3. Have you correctly punctuated your sentences with capital letters, capital letters for the name of your inspirational person, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks?
4. Have you made sure your commas are in the correct place when writing SC,MC and MC,SC,MC structured complex sentences?
5. Have you included relative clauses and a range of connectives (building, causal, contrasting)?
6. Have you used at least two different fronted adverbials and put a comma after them?

Be sure to use expression to keep your audience engaged! Get an adult to send us a picture of you presenting so we can upload it onto our ‘Weekly achievements’ page.
