The History of Chocolate We have been learning more about the history of chocolate in Year 5 and putting our history skills to good use by constructing timelines. It is interesting that the Mayans first drank a chocolate drink flavoured with chilli in 900 BC and now we eat chocolate flavoured with chilli!

Earthquake proof houses. Year 5 have been investigating our wonderful world in Geography this term. As part of our work on extreme weather, we had a go at making our own earthquake proof houses from marshmallows and straw. We tested them on a bed of jelly and some were really successful!

The Egg Drop Challenge. Our science topic this term is forces. We have been investigating the effects of air resistance by thinking about how we could drop an egg on the floor without it breaking. We had a great time completing this challenge!

Theme Park Project. We have been working on a project this term to design and make our own theme parks. This has involved us working together in teams to use our mathematical knowledge to create a good design. We have really enjoyed doing this and the teachers have commented on how well we have been working together!

We really enjoyed ourselves before half term when we spent a day designing and making clay pots. We used coils to form our pots and practised smoothing the coils together to make sure they didn't break when they dried!
