At Holy Rood Catholic Primary School the Chaplaincy Team is made up of 4 children from each year group who support the Religious Life of our school. Children wishing to be part of the Chaplaincy team are able to put themselves forward for nomination and are then elected by their fellow classmates. This helps to reinforce our British Values. Our Chaplaincy team are easily identified in school by their special Chaplain badge which they received at their Commissioning service in Bristol, led by Bishop Declan.  Our Chaplains work hard to promote our Catholic faith in school.

On Thursday 6 October, our Chaplaincy Team were invited to be Commissioned in a service led by Bishop Declan, at Bristol Cathedral.

The Holy Year began on Tuesday 8th December 2015.  This year, Pope Francis wanted the Year of Mercy to be an invitation to experience God’s mercy which is a ‘wellspring of joy, serenity and peace’. Merciful like the Father, is the “motto” of this Holy Year.  It provides a time to draw closer to Jesus and allows people to feel they are called to experience God’s mercy in their own lives. Through pilgrimages Pope Francis hopes that Christians will follow in Jesus’ footsteps and show mercy towards people who have made mistakes and those in poverty. The KS2 Chaplaincy Team joined many other schools from the Clifton Diocese for a Pilgrimage on the 23rd September 2016 at Prinknash Abbey.
