After making our volcanoes, we experimented with vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, Coca-Cola and Mentos to see which would make the best explosion!
We have really enjoyed learning all about volcanoes this term. After learning lots of facts about volcanoes, we made our own!
After finding the mysterious footprint, the children wrote some fantastic newspaper reports about the events. Here is one of the children's newspaper reports:
We had a very exciting Friday morning when we found a mysterious footprint in our playground! We have been investigating and trying to find clues...
In Science, we have been investigating light and how shadows are formed. We decided to experiment with materials and find out which material would be most suitable for making a pair of sunglasses. We all agreed that the translucent, coloured cling film would work the best because it let some of the light through, but not all of it! We hope you enjoy our pictures as much as we enjoyed making them!
This term, we have loved learning all about the Romans and the Roman Army. We made our own Roman shields in DT and then we learnt how to follow commands like the Roman Army used to do! We learnt: silente! movete! testudinem facite! The children have taken their shields home now and we are sure that they would love to demonstrate their Roman marching at home! :)
We have been looking at the Book 'Escape From Pompeii' in English this term. After reading and becoming confident with the story, we really enjoyed acting out our own versions of the events. We made up our own characters and used our imaginations to think of ways for them to escape from the 'Gentle Mountain'. Miss Masi was very proud of our acting and she actually felt like she was in Pompeii with us!
This term, Jaguars class are taking part in gymnastics lessons as part of PE. We enjoyed our first lesson of this term, working collaboratively with our peers to create static shapes with our bodies!
This week, we have been investigating multiplication using loads of different strategies and objects around the class! We have used pasta, unifix, pom-poms, sweets, repeated addition, bar models and number lines! We are getting really confident with our 3, 4 and 8 times tables!
