Badgers

We got to visit the three chicks that hatched in school. They were very cute and fluffy but also very lively! We were very sensible and handled them carefully.

We enjoyed a great trip to Roves Farm. We got to see, and meet, lots of different animals. We also played in the play park and had a very bumpy tractor ride.

We came into school on Monday to find that someone had been in our classrooms. We used our detective skills to work out who it was. Goldilocks, the Gingerbread Man and The Big Bad Wolf had left a mess in each of our classrooms. We have been listening to these stories this week and exploring them in our play. We have made story maps and used these to re-tell stories using story telling actions. Why don't you ask us to show you at home? We will be learning all about traditional tales this term and will have a go at writing our own. You can help me by sharing lots of traditional tales at home. Which one is your favourite?

When we come into the classroom in the morning, we have Super Sentences! We all grab a whiteboard and a pen and have a go at writing the words or sentences. We must all have a go at the green words, should all try the orange words and could have a go at the red words for a real challenge! To begin with we are copying - giving us lots of time to focus on handwriting, capital letters, finger spaces and punctuation. Eventually we will move onto completing sentences with our own words/ideas!

We spent a week learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. We made our own Chinese dragons using different materials and worked together to make a really big one. In PE, we used the big dragon we made to perform our own Chinese dragon dance.

Superheroes. We have been using different materials to make our own superhero gadgets. We are very creative in Badger Class.

Shape and Pattern. We have been learning about shape and pattern. We can make repeating patterns using lots of different things around our school.

Snow Day. We were very excited to explore the snow and ice in our outside area. We had to wrap up warm because it was a very cold day.

We received a letter from the three little pigs asking for our help. They needed to find a waterproof material to use on their roof. We investigated different materials to find out which ones were waterproof. Can you remember which materials were waterproof?

The children participated in a whole school project run by the company 'No Added Sugar'. The children painted small crosses which have now been put together to make a large cross in the school hall.

On Friday 16th September we celebrated Roald Dahl's 100th birthday. We took part in activities related to Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The children had lots of fun decorating chocolate bar packaging, making treats out of chocolate play dough, designing their own chocolate factory and making their own chocolate cakes.

A big welcome to our new Reception children in Badger class. We are delighted to see all the children happy and making new friends during the settling in period. They have been busy exploring both the classroom and outdoor area.
